Indirubin is lipophilic which means 💗fat-loving💗so a quick way to know how much of it your pigment contains is by making an impromptu “paléo chromatography” test with a stripe of paper soaked with oil. I like to use coconut oil for its colourless quality so that you can better gauge the amount of Indirubin AND Isoindigo, Isoindirubin, Isatin, Flavonoids and Tryptanthrin that also diffuse and are miscible into fat as well.
Even a tiny amount of pigment left or forgotten at the bottom of your coffee filter on the very last shelf you just spring cleaned is going to give you immense joy. Every indigo pigment created from indigo bearing plant extraction will work as long as the pigment contains indeed Indirubin.
But before adding it to your oil of choice let’s make our tests.
